Follow Through Like a Pro

We’ve all watched golf on TV over the years and have probably noticed not all golfers have the same swings. Even some the best golfers in the world have swings that could not be described as textbook, but they do all have one thing in common. The swings of these golfers all end up in the same position, with the golfer’s weight on the left side hands over the left shoulder, hips rotated so that the belt buckle points at the target which also pulls the right foot up onto its toe (for right handed golfers – reverse for lefties!).

How to do it: The Flamingo drill

To check if your weight is getting fully onto your front foot use the flamingo drill. After hitting a shot, pick your trailing foot (right foot for right handed golfers) completely up off the ground. If you have made a good follow through, you will be able to stand balanced on only your front foot while watching your shot fly straight down the range!

If you don’t get your weight transferred to the front side, you will fall back away from the target when you try to lift your trailing foot.

Happy Practicing!
